About Sweet Reserve Bakery
Founded by Women & Fueled by Passion
Sumaiya Vahora a graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and a math teacher for over a decade, began her journey into baking in 2018 with her home based brand, Luscious Layers. What started as a creative outlet for cake decorating quickly turned into a pursuit of culinary excellence. She spent two years refining recipes and techniques while balancing her career in education.
Humera Rauf a graduate of the University of New Orleans, came from a background in business operations and management. Though trained as a teacher, her passion for structure and entrepreneurship led her to explore the business world. In 2019, her path crossed with Sumaiya’s while teaching at Carriers of Light, and an idea was born.
In 2020 Sumaiya and Humera took a bold step forward by signing a lease for Sweet Reserve’s first location in Lombard right in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Backed by a team of professional pastry chefs, they focused on curating a menu rooted in cultural identity, scratch-made recipes, and high-quality ingredients.
Their commitment to community, innovation, and authenticity fueled Sweet Reserve’s growth. In 2023, they expanded their dream with three additional locations in Schaumburg, Skokie, and Winfield, establishing the bakery not only as a culinary destination but also as a community hub where culture, connection, and creativity thrive.
